Too Many Baby Fish

don't even need something as big as an angel, something like ram's or a dwarf gourami would also gobble them up! anything just that little bit bigger than platy's and swordies

Oh so if my platty does have her baby's they are going to get gobbled up by my angel fish and maybe my frog? Shall i put her in a net then? What if she has them during the night and eats them before i can seperate her and the baby's??

Platys normaly do not eat there own fry if they are well fed mine do not

that may be true however there's nothing wrong with them eating they're fry so if you want birth control of this method i'd say it's fine to not feed them for a day or so just after fry have been born and just let nature take it's course

Caring for fry, like everything else about the Platy, is also exceptionally easy. If you would like a large brood (batch, litter, etc.) of fry, it is best to isolate the mother in a breeding net (purchasable at almost any Local Fish Store (LFS)) or even a separate tank, but make sure to do so before she is giving birth or close to it, or she will abort the babies and reabsorb them. There are many liquid foods and such out there and to feed baby fish, but Platy's are not demanding, and therefor flake food crushed into tiny pieces will do. Feed in the morning and at night, and feed small amounts.

This is what i read in the fish index so didnt know what to do, i will make sure she is well fed then before she has her babies so i can keep em hehe

The answer is yes but i do not aproove it and i would never do it

You say you already have over 100, which your lfs has agreed to have off you. My local ones are all parts of large chains, I'm sure they don't take fish not from their usual suppliers. It looks one of the more natural answers to me.

If I were you, I'd just keep the one sex of livebearer. If you keep both, the females will be literally worn out having fry every month.

Well i didnt know which was male or female when i bought them otherwise i wouldve got the same sex!! Ive put her in her breeding net now (she hates it) the male is constantly trying too find a way too get in haha! Wonder how long till she drops, dont wana keep her in there too long poor girl! When she's had them i will put her back in and buy two more females so she dont get too worn out and the male has a bit of a choice then :fish:
