Today I Went To My Favourite Lfs And...

Fair enough. There only about 1" including tail so i guess that could be why they dont have the bright colours.

Are the new fish with your Akysis, kizno1?
Yeah. They all seem to be fine together so far. Im now down to 8 Akysis though. I lost 2 a week or 2 ago.
You had 10 Akysis?
Thought you had 5? :hey:
I did but i brought some more while my lfs had them and for only £2 i could resist. Ive now got 6 Akysis prashadi, 1 Akysis longifilis and 1 Akysis vespa which is a bit of a pain. I want to try breeding the Prashadi so i might get rid on the Vespa and Longifilis. Ive also got the chance to get some Akysis maculipinnis for £7.50 which isnt a bargin but a fair price.

 You've got quite a collection now, I see ;)
Your gonna have your work cut out if your going to try to breed the Akysis prashadi. Very rarely spawn apparently :hey:

Yeah. I just want something for the middle/surface of the tank.

Yeah they have only spawned in aquariums a handful of times but ive been speaking to someone that spawned them and had a few tips so hopefully.

Good luck on your mission

Went to my LFS Friday, got 3x otocinclus, 1x ancistrus L?, 2x red dwarf gouramis - all to be added to my mature planted 36" x 18" x 12" tank. Removed existing 2x adult pimoldus pictus, 2x adult Platydoras costatus from above tank to a spare isolation tank.

Yesterday, completely broke down 40"x18"x18" to lay laminate floor in dining room, me well knackered, that done- re-installed tank with 15% original water (didn't clean filters to keep existing bacteria)left the DIY trickle filter alone. All bogwood rocks etc unwashed placed back into tank (hoping for a quick cycle here). Today, water is very clear, just 6x mature Rasbora triineata in at mo, hoping to add the 2 pims & 2 costatus cats very soon. overall, the tank is full of mature gravel, bogwood & filters so hoping for few problems here.

The 36" planted tank looks ace! :good: after years of keeping rare & unusual fish (for showing) & rift valley cichlids, I am rediscovering the joys of keeping small community fish, which look fantastic in planted tanks. Talk about going back to my roots, this is what got me into fishkeeping in the first place. As for the blood red gouramis, I was never one for keeping artificial variants of any species, but those blood red gouramis are something else

Today I went to my LFS and bought suction pads and clips to neaten the air line in my new tank :)

today I wnet to my favourite Lfs and bought two large lumps of bogwood for £5.29 each.
Just over 1 foot long each, and nicely shaped. Bargain I thought.

They've been out on a shelf for who knows how long,

How long will I need to soak them for?? they're stuffed into a bucket soaking, they sank instantly.

probably need soaking for a couple of weeks, changing the water regularly :good:

yep normally to remove the tannins, with my bogwood i soaked it in boiling water, changing the water daily,by the end of the week, most of the tannins had come out,so i put it in my tank,i did get a small amount of pale weak tea coloured water, but it soon disappeared after weekly waterchanges.

Tannins are good for some fish,so if you dont mind the water looking brown then give them a scrub and put it in :good:
