To Divide, Or Not To Divide.

I think 5gals each would be best :) and then you won't have this issue of stressed fishy - sometimes they're fine being next to each other, and others just stay in kill mode

Well it's your choice, but like you said yourself, it's whether you put yourself or your fishes needs first. You're good with W/C's so i'm sure your fish are doing fine, but it's just so much nice to see them swim in a larger space

Yeah, I agree. There are pros and cons to both IMO, and to how I see it (which is why I asked for other's opinions here). It seems like majority is leaning towards 5 gallons as well, though.

Could you not fit one on your desk? Get rid of your tv maybe? You said there was one in nearly every room. Just an idea, because im looking wistfully at a nice 5 gallon sized space next to me right now :D if only I would clear off all my papers

I think the mesh is your best bet for now. Also you could try moving his 'bed' plant further from the divider if thats where he goes when scared. And maybe move other plants to obstruct his view. Good luck. Might want to get some Betta Spa to help with his tail?

And talking about youtube, theres someone feeding a betta to piranhas  my housemate put it on thinking it would just be a betta flaring at them through the glass or something, but no. had to turn it off.

Nope, not even the desk. I have two, both housing computers (we do have a lot of computers too...)
One houses a large computer screen, and work space where everything is done (large projects, general homework...). The other desk is in my room. Not only is my room the coldest in the house, but guess what. That also houses a computer! But absolutely no extra space there either. Plus, I actually don't spend much time in my room at ALL. The dressers on my room are weak/old, and aren't trustworthy enough for 50lbs, nor do they barely have enough surface area to hold it because of the mirror. The BEST I can go with is actually buying another aquarium stand. But I'm not "aloud to" because that'll crowd the house even more. Lol.

Oh, piranha's...those are everywhere on youtube! It's terrible! They eat goldfish, betta, rats, oh geez...

Well, you're officially on your way to becoming a betta freak 8). So glad you realize that! Yeah it just about irks EVERYBODY, and this is an uuuuber common problem with newbies and their betta fish. They think it's "okay", but most obviously, it's not. Ugh. If you want to die a little inside, go to youtube and see how many people have put their bettas in there. It's a sad thing. Ironically, a lot of them also say "...and he died soon after help omg idk what happened" or something absurd like that.

I gotta stop ranting, LOL. I just...stay away from those.

And what's funny, is that the bettas on the picture don't even look their best... Hilarious >.>
I remember when I was lil my bro had to get a betta for a school project, (i have no idea) and I got one. I put it ina one gallon tank with a filter. It was spongebob, LoL. I killed it tho. :-(
I accidenty over fed it, (I'm a very ambitious person) and my dad was goin to flush it and I screamed, "He has been through enough!!! You flush him, when you die I'm going to flush you!!!!!"
:p :D

I'd say 1 betta per 5 gallons. It's not ideal at all but you cen keep bettas healthy with in 2.5 gallons (more like 2, when you factor in decor, equipment and such). When one dies, don't replace him and take the divider out =)

Awwww that's sad hahaha

Why would people make people buy bettas?! Never heard of that one before. Lol, now you know betta 8)
Idk lol I remember it was for a science project, and my bro chose to buy a betta and do something with it.....idk what lol.
Okay, I'm so mad at the makers of that betta thing, I'm writing them a complaint and making a new topic on here.
That'll show them; a 12 year old with a strongly worded email. Sccccaaaaaarrrryyyyy :hyper: LoL
I'm even madder because they have a "Betta Condominium" thing for sale, along with others, on their website: My link
Here's the condo.
It's cruel.
   :sly:  -_- :-( :S :/ :X :(

You're definitely not the only one who's done that before. And there's a LOT of stuff out there, so good luck with all of that! And to be honest, I HAVE seen some stuff even worse than that... sad thing  :|

I may be wrong but I believe thats is a showing trap. I just bought one myself so my betta can get used to his tankmates for a while without tearing them apart. Dont worry, its not sold for them to live in long-term, you put them inside a bigger aquarium.

EDIT: Sorry the picture didint come out.
