To Buy Or Not To Buy Plants Online

I've purchased Java moss and Java ferns from ebay. All arrived in good condition.

I got all my plants off eBay various sellers, mosses mainly and have been really happy with them. My Xmas moss is taking a bit longer to establish but the riccia and java is really healthy.

I find it can be hit and miss (on forums, online stores and ebay alike). Sometimes you recieve exceptional stuff for a very reasonable price (I can name my java moss and ferns for one), but sometimes you recieve substandard stuff, or its delayed/late/damaged/algae infested etc. etc.

For example, green machine.

I did have a high tech planted nano at one point and ordered everything from them (and all the 'high quality' stuff too. Some of it was brilliant, but ALL of it had slime algae and BB algae... this took a loooong time to clear up. However, conversely, i ordered some of their stuff from the exceptional value range, and it was huge, pristine and still growing now...

But, for me at least, even with the inherent risks, it still out wreighs what you find in 'most' petshops, and at least its usually a genuinly aquatic plant! ;p
