Tizer's 90 Litre Tiger Barb / Krib Tank

Day 10 - Morning: ammonia 0.15, nitrate 0.25 - slight ammonia reading today and nitrite was back up to 0.25 so 50% water change done this morning before work. Not really suprised as the additional fish would have increased the amount of ammonia in the tank and i fed them some red plankton i found kicking around in the freezer. The rate at which 20 small fish can demolish some frozen food is quite insane.

Got home early today after the dog paid a visit to the vets after getting into a scrap with 3 other dogs! £230 of bills later...

one patched up dog.

Did another test:

Day 10 - Afternoon: ammonia 0, nitrate 0.15 - realised i forgot to turn the filter back on after this mornings water change, doh!

Added a couple of Echinodorus Bleheri plants to my main tank and to the new one:

Apparently they can grow pretty bit, i think two large leaf plants in here will be enough to add some height for now.

Going to have to rip that xmas moss off the bogwood, starting to look nasty.

Went hunting for baby Kribs in my main tank, still got 4 so happy days:

Day 11 - Morning: Ammonia 0, Nitrite creeping up to about 0.15 - Back on track with the ammonia processing i hope.

Looking over ebay today i found this co2 regulator which looks like it might do the job for a custom Co2 build.

Be interested to know if anyone has used one before.

Looking good buddy. Finally i have movement in my cycle aswell. One step closer to the Tigers :)

Day 11 - Evening: Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0 - Whatever Nitrite was in the tank this morning has been processed! Cycle, over...11 days in total with only 7/8 50% water changes.

Being able to seed your own tanks from your own mature media is such a massive bonus.

I'll carry on with a few more tests until the weekend, if nothing shows by Sunday thats job done as far as im concerned and i can ponder the idea of moving my Kribs over after my hols :)

Day 12: Ammonia 0, Nitrite 2 - Helloooo Nitirite spike dont you look like a nice shade of purple. - As expected the Nitrite spike hit this afternoon which is why you should alway keep testing for a few days after you hit double zeros. 75% water change done.

Day 13: Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0 - Yey - day off work today, nice long weekend ahead...what shall i doooo

Bit annoyed as i missed out on a 125 Litre Fluval Roma on eBay yesterday for £44, my top bid was £40. Would have been quite a nice deal me thinks, whoever won got a blinder.

£44 BARGAIN !

What to do ? Sit back relax and watch those awesome tigers :)

Wish i could hehe, not long now till i can i suppose.

I absutley love your tiger barb tank mate. I could be very tempted to do the same with my 90ltr tank. Great work

No updates to report, all going well.

I decided to re-decorate that room over the easter weekend so its been totally gutted, repainted and refloored in solid wood. Fish tank sat in the spare room on the floor doing nowt for 3 days, they seemed happy enough though with a bit of flake in the evening.

I also built a stand for the tank, in about 20 mintues, from the furniture wood and batton i had left over. Might get a pic up later.

Tests have shown slight nitrite readings but having emptied the tank down to 5% water to lift it twice, i've not been able to take much notice of it.

Flying off to Barbados tomorrow so hoping all it well. Father inlaw has instructions until i return :)

Look forward to a pic of the new room and stand.

Have a good break. Leave your in law your login details if he needs any help with the fish :)
