Time To Stock! Need Help And Advice

if i were you i would go more like,

1 dwarf gourami
3-4 male guppies
10-12 neons or 8-10 cardinals
6 pygmie cories

and add the dwarf gourami first, and the guppies, and add 3 at a time for the larger fish like guppies and dwarf gourami. and then add 4-5 at a time for the smaller fish like neons and pygmies

I wouldn't suggest dwarf gouramis. They don't do well in new tanks, and they've been so overbred that the species is now susceptible to dwarf gourami disease, which is usually fatal. I lost 6 this way, and it really upset me because they're great fish with lots of personality.

I also wouldn't start out with neons, as they also don't do well in newly established tanks. Cardinals would be a bit better.

With any fish, start out with a full shoal of one species, then add another after a couple of weeks, etc.

Hope this helps.

ThisOldSpouse is right, Dwarf Gouramis are horribly overbred which tends to make them weak. I had a male & two females die within 1-2 weeks & I swore I'd never get them again. Then I saw an awesome Powder Blue at a different store than I usually go to so I gave it another chance. King Powder, Lord of the Fry, is doing quite well in his temporary home of a 10 gallon fry tank. I've had him since Christmas with no problems. I'm moving him to his new 20 gallon high this weekend. I guess you just have to pick your Dwarf very carefully & make sure no other fish in the tank looks sick. Even then you're kinda taking your chances a bit. One thing's for certain, they are great fish that are full of personality.
