as it stands at the moment, VT betta are not recoginses as a quality or standerdised tail type by fish clubs, and as a result there is no serious demand for VT betta. Due to this low demand and non-serious aproach to them from comercial breeders, thousands live out patetic short lives, maltrated and un cared for.

perhaps if the VT was once more recognised and standardised as a show quality breed, its popularuty would gain and perhaps a new, more serious demand would be established. i could see this also leading to a wider variety of tails being seen in pet stores, as the VT would be just as valuble. it may enourage breeders to improve VT starins and work on producing quality specamins rather than just producing on mass for pet stores.

would people on here (and other forums) be prepared to campaign to the cubs, shows and organisations, to standardise and recognise the VT betta as a show quality fish??

id appreciate everyones views :good:

well you obviously have my vote (and Odin's if he's not busy bubblenesting...lol)

I'd be willing to help as much as possible :good:

I also plan on doing some work with vts, I'm going to try breeding vts with a wider tail span but with the same trade mark shape to the tail. Will also be working on a blue dragon vt line and eventually a dtvt line but that will be later down the road. I love vts their my favorites and dont ge enough recognition!

im all for it! i think its a great idea. all too many times iv seen way too many vt with great colours go to waste cause thier so over bred.

ITS TIME TO STAND UP FOR THE LITTLE GUY!

lol little ??
you oughta meet sparten hes 2 1/2 inches now...
not big enough to make a giant yet...
but he is heading that way ;)

Yes! Poor little things are overlooked by people when they're put next to Crowntails, or some other pretty tail type. If only people would pay more attention to them, in stead of just putting them in cups. (That annoys me SO much.)

I'm in :D

My boys are stunning (still young at 6mnths) VTs and I would breed them if only I knew they wouldn;t be castaway to die next to some crowntails. I've seen some beautiful purple boys too, the kind of purple people are trying to breed for in other tail types. They deserve to be recognized!

wheyyyy it's taking off already....I'm glad a lot of you guys are planning to have a go at strengthening the line, I look forward to the results!!!!
I reakon even standard VT's if they had the butterfly colourings of other tail types and things like that would soon take off!!!

Veiltails are not recognized because there are better betta fishes. Like halfmoons, crowntail etc.

Its like humans, their are ugly people, then there are beautiful people... Theres always different types of people, just like bettas.

I'm not saying that Veiltails are crappy, I have 2 at the moment and I love them a lot.
