Thunder Storm

Talking about hail, we actually had hail here the last week. In *MALAYSIA*. Apparently the last time that happened was 20 years ago!

P.T.

holy crap i see what you mean (my desk's shaking with the thunder). i've given up phoning clients now at the hail against the metal roof of our building is deafening.

some serious storm going on in hertfordshire at the moment.

better go home and check the fish (any excuse). oh no wait a minute that means going outside to the car... damn it.

I work at the Peugeot garage in Broadbridge heath just outside Horsham, west sussex. and we had it really bad lunch time, no hail, just HEAVY rain and thunder, the garage was completly flooded, the water was pouring through the cellings and the light fittings and switches. no amount of buckets were helping! hope everyone else is ok.

I didn't know that about the pressure systems effecting the fish before. Very good to know. :)

I was going to suggest that perhaps they sensed that the storm was especially bad via that innate sixth sense all God's creatures tend to have. You know like when a volcano is going to erupt generally all the wildlife head for the hills, sea birds will head inland when a big storm is coming.. . that kind of thing. Generally animals, fish, birds are a better indicator of what Mother Nature has coming then we are.

I wonder if that happened to your fishies? Glad to hear that you are all okay though, but I am sorry to hear you had some broken windows.

Sorry guys, i think it came up from Southampton, we had it fairly bad at lunchtime but not with the hail, just a hell of a lot of rain and alot of thunder.

Hope the fish get over it quickly, and you manage to get your windows fixed quickly.

I have weather loaches at home, and it really does work! You see their personalities go off the wall when a storm is coming, they go mad.

yeah, thats what ive heard...I just thought it was funny if the loach was starring at the glass saying "storm, storm" in however way they communicate...

We had a hail storm like that back in July. I c ouldn't believe it! a huge hailstorm with golf-ball sized stones in the middle of summer!

Afterwards we found two dead birds in the garden than had been knocked out of a tree by the hailstones.

It was scary stuff!

Well......... I ventured out when the storm had passed as I had an appointment and then decided to take a late visit to the LFS!!!!!! My Betta tanks and my main community tank have now been re-designed!

The roads were appalling and kinda scary. They were covered in...... ICE!! It was mad! I couldn't believe it. The field outside my house was covered in the stuff, it looked like it had snowed! I couldn't believe it....IT'S AUGUST!!! So strange!

Thanks everyone for their concern and ideas as to how to help my fish, they all seem to have recovered with no problems. Thank goodness. They looked so terrified though... I was really worried about them. The only fish that seems to have taken it badly is a fish from work who I am nursing back to health who is in isolation. She seems worse for wear but hopefully she will pull through.

Thanks again all. This weather is ridiculous for this time of year though......... quite scary that the world is changing like this.

Oh yeah... speaking of weather loaches, that might be why the khulis have been acting crazy lately..... They've stopped now (I think) though.

So in England you were feeling sympathy pains for the people in South Florida with hurricane Katrina, huh?

Poor things! I hope your fish are ok.
