This Is Driving Me Crazy!

I've recently developed a hair algae problem which is slowly going away thanks to lowering my lighting hours. Through cleaning off the tank glass every day with a sponge though has left the top of my water with tonnes and tonnes of floating bits of little tiny algae balls. It's driving me insane to say the least.

I've been water changing like mad, cleaned out my filter and tried picking it up by letting kitchen roll paper lay on the surface. Still to no improvement.

How can I get rid of it?? I just want the surface to be clean

black out for 3 days, and lower lighting to 4 hours a day after that, remove as much as you can and it should recede, also increasing flow and cutting back the water changes will help because poor flow and unstable CO2 causes hair algae.

I understand that..............the point of the thread though is how do I rid the surface of my water of this huuuuuuuuuuuge amount of 'bits' of algae?

increase surface agitation, and run your net through them if you can, the black out should get rid of them.
