Hi, as I was saying in my other topic I am new to fish and have a lot of questions.

I have a friend who has a nice size tank that he's had up and running for years, I was thinking about maybe giving him the fish I already have in my tank since I'm worried that my tank is going down and having all my fish die (I've already had 2 fish die within a few days, and have a feeling more will die) because of a mistake I made by not knowing that I had to let the tank fully cycle and such before adding fish. I am thinking that this could be the best thing thinking of the fish.

On to my main question: If I in fact did do this and wanted to change over from tropical to goldfish would I have to start all over with the cycling from the start again or would I want to leave the already partly cycled water and let it finish before added the new fish?

Thanks,
-Nikki

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this since I'm not getting many replies, should it have been put in "Tropical Chit Chat"?

Thanks snowyangel. That really helps. I'm still not sure if I am going to go though with my plan but I believe that it'd be best for the fish.

just read your other topic...

1) do you have a test kit yet?

2) have you read about fishless cycleing? if not try this link....

and keeping goldfish is as easy as keeping tropicals once the tank is set up,

Its up to you and your friend to decide about moving fish as your fish due to the stress they are under stm may have some diseases and could introduce those diseases to his tak
