Things You Find In A External Filter!

So I did my 5 week maintenance and clean of my 305 . Apart from about 50 baby snails what did I find?
Well in basket 2 of 3 I found a baby panda cory about 2 cm in length living in a fluvial ceramic noodle! The only way I noticed was his tail stocking out the hole in the ceramic. I rushed to my tank held the noodle under water and he swam out! A little surprised I can tell you! He/she has all the fins in the right place and panda markings , must have grown in the filter media , now its shoaling with the other 7adults who are protecting him. I didn't even know my corries had spawned ! The egg must have got all the way through my filter stages and sponges because if it was a free swimmer he would have been shredded by all my ceramic noodles! I have decided to call him ' bio' after feeding on the gunk in my filter and growing . He's doing very well and improved in colour already, bombing around with the others who I have had for 6 months . I hope he survives, I will try to get a photo soon!

Wow cories are tough little beggars... Baccus found one in an external unfiltered garden centre pond once!

I found the same thing a while ago,he nearly went down the sink with the water from the filter,but spotted it just in time,it's now growing well in the fry tank.

My Half banded Spiny Eel used to go inside the power filter n cant manage to get back to the tank. I kinda hate it cuz that means I have to take the filter apart If I cant find him during feeding time, it means he's trapped inside the filter again

i had a similar thing while cleaning my fluval fx5. i found 4 bristlenose plec fry all approaching an inch in size. i still have them to this day and they a strong healthy fish lol.
