Hey Loverlies!

Break time from a 35% water change on the 36 gallon. I removed some dead Moneywort Bacopa and shifted things around a bit. Removing some more black gravel so the black sand will remain & I'm planting 2 new Lutea Crypts in that tank. Oh, and I have to trim back the wisteria that's growing out of control. Fun, fun, fun. A bad day of tank maintenance is better than a good day at work or so I has heard..........
Guess that Bacopa wasn't "wort" the money.

Bwhaahahahahahaha

All done now, the tank looks a lot better but some of my Cherry Barbs are flashing against the bottom gravel since I refilled. What the hay? I didn't add any fish to the tank so I can safely rule out Ich. Gill flukes or just maybe the water parameters changed too much for them?

My swordtails have been doing that ever since I've known them.
They seem to use it as a social cue too. When the fry saw the adults gathering in a circle and taking turns flashing in same spot, the fry chose another spot and, since they were a trio, also took turns like the adults and flashed on the same spot on the sand.
Not sure about barb behavior though, but I'm used to seeing swordies flash and that happens at most once a day.

Today, my fish had 2 treats:
1 - egg yolk - everyone ate it, including the fry.
2 - salad - Tzuppy's favorite food, and he's the only one to eat it.

But I have found a veggie that all my fish seem to love: Spinach.
Bee managed to eat some. She was so desperate that she ran with it in her mouth, trying to get away from the rest of the swordies.
There's still a frozen pack left. Will defrost it tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure it's common for fish to flash after a water change...I am 95% sure I've read that somewhere

Thanks, that gives me a little piece of mind anyway. I was just the female Cherry Barbs too, weird.

Fish are like any other animal, sometimes they get itchy just because they're itchy. Just because I scratch my foot doesn't mean I have athlete's foot.

API StressCoat helps with this if you're concerned, the aloe vera soothes fish skin

Speaking of itchy... darn mosquitoes! Gave me a lot of itching to scratch!

Here's the tank now, before I change the center decoration thing:

Seeing as you've mentioned that stuff: I was at my LFs planning to get some stress coat the other day and the guy said that him and some fish people he knew had had trouble with it. I trust him as a fish-keeper but I've found it quite helpful in the past. Anyone else had bad experiences coz I've been scared to use it since.

It may cause problems to fish with allergies to the aloe vera.

So now we have to worry about fish allergies?
I don't remember where I've read this, but it said that we don't have to buy dechlorinator with aloe vera and other stuff because the extras can cause problems to the fish.

I've been using Aquasafe dechlorinator since day one, so whatever that has in it I use.

I just finished a big 60% water change on the 20 gallon sand tank & I noticed my Honey Gourami doesn't look right. He's a bit bloated just under his gills. He's also a bit duller in color than usual & he didn't want to eat. What do you think?
