how do u clean tanks with sand
i hav a 60 litre wiv gravel and i use a gravel vacume 2 clean up all the muck nd dirt
just wondering how u would clean sand if it was the same way or something different :good:

IMO the best way to do them is to set them up as a planted tank with a big filter and army of MTS so you don't need to clean the substrate, but you can just swirl the gravel cleaner above the sand to pick up any dirt, works well, easier to clean because if you use a light coloured sand, you can see the dirt build up.

Malaysian trumpet snails. Act a bit like worms do in earth. They eat any left over food and churn over the sand quite a bit, leaf debris can be eaten too and they won't eat it but end up dragging fish poop under the sand too. Makes the sand great for growing lots of plants. They stay in the sand during the day and come out at night :).
