Ok, so heres a list of choises, I would like your guys opinion on which would be the best and why in a 75 gallon tank: :)

1) Oscar with common plec

2) Oscar with Tire Track Eel

3) Oscar with 2 or 3? clown loaches

number 1 is the only one you could do and even then the plec would probably get too big eventually.

Yeah the common pleco as a tankmate looks like the most likey pair, but the Tire Track eel only needs about 60 gallons of water, and will grow about 20 inches so I was thinking that may be a good choice.

the oscar plec combo sounds good, as the oscar will stick to the free swimming part of the water and the plec will stick to the ground, and so they will keep out of each others way,

or my gf has an oscar and a parrot fish together and they LURVE each other

Lots of oscars don't tolerate plecos.. mine included.. it killed my pleco within a day.. it really depends on the fish..

A convict is a pretty safe tankmate.. as the oscar will be bigger then the convict, but shouldn't be aggressive enough to kill the convict, while the convict will be smaller then the oscar, and shouldnt bother attacking it too much.

I have also kept rainbow cichlids with my oscar without problems.. the first few days were a little iffy, but once they got the pecking order in place they have been good together.

I don't know about a fish as large as a severum or parrot.. you'd really need serious filtration if you wanted to keep an oscar with one of those.. and there wouldn't really be a lot of room to swim.

I'd stick with a medium sized semi aggressive cichlid.. Something that stays under 6''.

I've already said this on your other thread (you seem to have a habit of starting a new thread asking the same question?):

A common plec is NOT suitable for a 75g, it will outgrow it. A smaller species would be a better idea, but only if they're oscar-safe. Personally I think an Oscar and a trio of clown loaches would be a safer bet, but that's at a push considering the tank size.

Officially speaking none of them as your supposed to allow an O 75g to himself, however part of that size is calculated on allowing enough room for aggression, some O's (like mine) aren't agressive at all and therefore IMO you can get away with allowing a little less room, I also think you can stretch the guidelines a bit with ground crew or nocturnal fish and they won't occupy the same swimming space as the other fish.

As Ian said my parrot and O love each other, but they've been together since they were babies which generally helps reduce the agression. The parrot's actually by far the dominant fish of the two.

don't clown loaches like being kept in bigger groups (6 or more I think?) so I wouldn't really say that's suitable.

I'd say you need to assess your Oscar's behaviour before you can decide on a suitable tankmate. They're one of those fish where you can't really have rules as they can eb so different.

Ok..I know this may be getting a bit monotonus..but...some thing have changed and I may be able to swing a 110 gallon tank. I think the plec and oscar should be alright together in there? if not a parrot fish?

don't take advice from a guy that keeps his bettas in 1/2 gallon tanks

wow buddy thats real nice, how about i bring them back to the walmart i got them from and put them back in those little cups

would you like that?

i bought my bettas because i think those cups are cruel, and i am getting bigger tanks for each of them

where soon each will have 4 gallon tanks, but until then they will stay in the 1/2 gallon tanks until i have the money for something bigger

next time stick to the topic and if you want to say something to me then p.m me,

im embarrased for you,

have a nice day

Hiya - sounds like a good tank. For the plec however, it depends on the dimensions and whether you'd want the hassle of rehoming him when he's bigger (difficult with commons). The tank would need to be at least 6ft x 2ft x 2ft for a permanent home. :good:

Hmm, well I know for a fact its 4 feet long, so I guess maby the plec should be brought back to the store while he's still small.

Ok, with the 110 gallon tank, how about 1 Oscar, 1 Convict, and 1 Jack Dempsey?

BTW, thanks for all the help kathy. :good:

LOL no need to be ambarrased for me, im fine!

no i dont agree that walmart keep them in cups but do you think by buying them they wont do that again?

or do you think those cups were refilled with bettas the day you left (or pretty soon after).

your supporting them and encouraging them to keep bettas like that.

and i wasnt talking to you, i was tellin makoman that theres better people to get advice from!

sorry mako, didnt mean to hijack the thread.

that stoking sounds ok to me but u shouldnt give up on a plec cos there IS ones that are suited to the tank that you could keep.

have you looked at bristle noses? a pair would go nicely in that tank and i dont think there hard to find.

the thing is with the 110 over the 75 is the footprint of the tank isnt that much bigger, normally deeper. its much better for the oscar and other fish but a common plec mite still be a lil cramped.
