hi guys! my downstairs 20 gallon has two jewel cichlids, 4 paradice fish and a small terapin (yes i know the turtle shouldnt be there but hes not interested in my fish andits only temporary). last night i came in and all down one side of the filter there is a massive nest of eggs and the pair are guarding it furiously even agains the turtle when its minding his own business! there is about 600 eggs and i know nothing about rearing them... help! are they mouth brooders? :S i really dont know! oh and btw, the tank is only half full to cater for the turtle and there is floating plants and bog wood, so the turtle is happy as well as the fish! any advice on breeding would be appreciated. thanks in advance, summat fishy

The Jewel Cichlid grows around 10-15 cm. It is an African cichlid that can be quite fierce, especially when it is breeding

if you really want to raise them,,,leave it to the parents and make sure theres no other fish in the tank,,or just leave them to it maybe a few might survive :good:
