Tank Clean

Hi,

Just after some advice on cleaning a stocked tank...

Im looking at cleaning the plants i currently have in the tank (fake) as they have become abit dirty over time and need to sort out the pipes for the airstone.. Would the fish be ok if they are placed in a small tank (10gal) for 30 mins with some tank water whilst the main one is drained to allow the cleaning and pipework to be completed? Or should i just leave them in the main tank and drain enough water off to allow the work to be done?

It would be better to remove the things you want to clean and leave the fish in there. Plants and airstone tubing can be removed I presume?

yeah they can both be removed... Would it be fine to remove 50% of the water otherwise your upto your armpits in water when trying to adjust things?

Yes, then it's just like a 50% water change

Remove enough water, plants can be cleaned by a gentle rubbing between finger and thumb (of a well rinsed hand) prior to a further gravel vac. Slow movements so as to not freak the fish out too much, they will be fine (remember the fish think of any movement could mean food)
