I originally had a planted, community Tropical tank but I`ve now changed to a Tanganyika setup instead. Current stock includes 8 Cyprichromis leptosoma, 1 Neolamprologus brichardi, 3 Neolamprologus leleupi, 8 Neolamprologus multifasciatus, 1 Juli Marlieri, 3 Opthalmotilapia ventralis (featherfins)

Thanks for your comments, I`m really chuffed with how everything has gone and the end result :D

Oops....reflection, I actually never noticed it!! I think that fish is a halfblind snappiusbitchicus (at times anyway)

beautiful, how many litres is that tank?

Thanks creg :)
Using the calculations on this forum, the tank is 389L = 103USG

I started off 2 years ago with a 17G tank that had a few mollies, guppies and platys in it, then had a couple of smaller tanks with Siamese Fighting fish in them. Upgraded to a 180L community Tropical tank which I had for about a year and then I upgraded to this one 3 months ago. So you never know you could have the big tank you`d like soon enough ;)

looks cool
keep the pics coming Lisa as I've started having a look at these kind of tanks. Never been interested in all these years but for some reason in last few weeks I;ve had an interest in mbuna and tanginakyan

My brother is a big Tanginakyan fan. His tank is pretty impressive, although he recently changed his stock and got a load of Tropheus!

James.

Awesome, I love shell dwellers, do they need a tank that size? Just wondered as a friend had a 32 litre with 5 shell dwellers in but I only saw it once and never asked him how he got on with them.

Thanks for the comments Guys, I`ll keep the pics coming if people want to see them :)

I just hit a point where the Tropical side of things really wasn`t floating my boat, although I dithered between the choice of Malawi and Tangs the Tangs really have the edge for me. Ever since I started going to my local MA I`ve gotten more and more interested in the huge Tanganyikan tank they have there and with kiriyama, doresy and bullits` input and advice I can now say I`m so glad I changed to this setup. Yes the fish are expensive, yes it`s difficult to source the ones you want sometimes but they`re worth it imho.
The Malawi are too chunky for my liking, the guy at MA today made a comment that described my thoughts on them.......Goldfish with a really bad attitude :hyper:

The mulifasciatus don`t need a big tank Steve as long as you don`t have too many of them. Although I have no previous experience of them, all the 'literature' I`ve read and personal experiences I`ve listened to says they breed quite readily and you can become overrun with fry IF the previous generations don`t eat them first :look:
The multies are apparently very easy to sell as there aren`t many people who keep Tangs, they aren`t readily available in many places from what I`ve been told.
One of my 35L tanks is now empty, I`ve decided to keep a spare tank 'just in case' the multis do decide to 'get it on' :hey:

The mix I have at the moment are meant to be on the lines of being the most peaceful so I`m hoping that I`ll end up with a placid and peaceful community of Tangs.
Here`s hoping they become more of an interest to people, I personally love them already and for anyone who hasn`t already read my posts in the African Cichlids section of the forum.........The multies are brilliant, entertaining, feisty and soooo cute!!
