Thanks for the comments Guys, I`ll keep the pics coming if people want to see them
I just hit a point where the Tropical side of things really wasn`t floating my boat, although I dithered between the choice of Malawi and Tangs the Tangs really have the edge for me. Ever since I started going to my local MA I`ve gotten more and more interested in the huge Tanganyikan tank they have there and with kiriyama, doresy and bullits` input and advice I can now say I`m so glad I changed to this setup. Yes the fish are expensive, yes it`s difficult to source the ones you want sometimes but they`re worth it imho.
The Malawi are too chunky for my liking, the guy at MA today made a comment that described my thoughts on them.......Goldfish with a really bad attitude
The mulifasciatus don`t need a big tank Steve as long as you don`t have too many of them. Although I have no previous experience of them, all the 'literature' I`ve read and personal experiences I`ve listened to says they breed quite readily and you can become overrun with fry IF the previous generations don`t eat them first
The multies are apparently very easy to sell as there aren`t many people who keep Tangs, they aren`t readily available in many places from what I`ve been told.
One of my 35L tanks is now empty, I`ve decided to keep a spare tank 'just in case' the multis do decide to 'get it on'
The mix I have at the moment are meant to be on the lines of being the most peaceful so I`m hoping that I`ll end up with a placid and peaceful community of Tangs.
Here`s hoping they become more of an interest to people, I personally love them already and for anyone who hasn`t already read my posts in the African Cichlids section of the forum.........The multies are brilliant, entertaining, feisty and soooo cute!!
