Tadpoles!

4 days ago 2 rams laid eggs on a slate. They tried their hardest to protect them, but did not succeed.

Yesterday i noticed that they had dug a hole and laid more eggs....just 2 days on. Well now we have little tadpoles which are being protected like they were royalty by their parents.

Not sure any will survive in the long term, but really cute to see just now!

I like the happily ever after story, but i am not sure a frog would go well with my aquascaping

have you not got a smaller tank you can move them to? Seems a shame just to let them keep getting eaten.

yeh, as in my bolivian rams have spawned, they have moved on from eggs to the tadpole stage.... soon into lovely fish!

I would move them, but there is no way to catch them etc. Would stress the parents etc etc etc.

I have just moved my breeding discus to a tank of their own. So if that works, i may also then try the rams.

Um...can I just ask...You are calling them tadpole to be folksy or cute, no? And not because you think that fish FRY are really called TADPOLES, right? For those not in the know, tadpoles are what we call newly-hatched frogs. They do resemble fish fry quite a bit before the leg buds develop.

I was just calling them tadpoles as thats what they look like just now....short of calling them sperm, i figured tadpoles was the best description haha

Yeah, I don't like fish much anymore, but a healthy set of rams always make me want to keep them again, they're amazing fish. Especially when they spar and you see them actually "ram".
