Switching To Sand

This is what I want to try when switching to sand because I'm attached to my blue gravel.

The -------- are plants and the tank is 29 gallons the dimensions are on there but they are 32x13x19 LxWxH

i suggest the sand path going from the front to the bak as from the side to side you wont notice it as much and it wont pop out

I think I'm going to have to delay ALL of my plans because I want to go at least 1 month without any sort of issue so right bow I'm about to get rid of my fry and I'm going to shut down my "qt" tank and my fry tank temporarily oh well I guess I'll wait until I get out of school at the end of may to do the rest of my plans. This is all my decisions btw.

The gravel and sand will mix and blur together eventually so don't expect it to be defined for long.

Really? How long until it would mix?

Depends on how often you're disturbing it with cleaning, whether you have fish like corys mixing it up, etc. Of course it'll mix, the sand is so fine it'll just work its way between the cracks in the gravel. You will probably still have the strip down the middle but won't have a defined line between the two.

Yeah I agree with soybean. With the water current of the tank, as well as the fish activity and you cleaning the surface, it won't be long before this starts to just mix together. After a week or so you'll start getting tempted to take it out and try doing it again.

If its what you want and you think you can maintain it, good luck fish like cories, loaches, apistogramma, etc, are bound to start messing it up sooner or later.

Of course if you don't have any bottom dwelling fish it will last a bit longer.
