Hi,
I'm new to the site but not to owning fish, i have a well established 190 litre community tank. my problem is i can't keep bettas alive. it's really strange. all my levels are exactly normal. I have 15 tetras 10 zebra danios 5 guppies, 2 clown loach, 3 angel fish and 5 ottos. yet every time i put a betta into my tank within three days it dies. just yesterday i put a new betta in. come home from work today to find it floating. I really don't understand whats happening. I feed my fish a range of foods because of the range of fish obviously. It goes from frozen brine-pellets-flake-algae wafers. even down to some cut up cucumber and cooked prawn. From what i've read on the internet bettas arent hard to keep and some are kept alive and healthy (albeit cruelly) in a 10 litre glass bowl on the side.
Tank temp is 26 degrees celsius.
After testing just now:
nitrite: 0.0mg/l
ammonia: 0.0mg/l
nitrate: 20mg/l
ph:8.0
At first i thought it was a dodgy fish. but today was the third betta i've killed Sad
Can anyone help?
