Does anyone know any mods I can make to my coralife superskimmer to make it better?

I made a rant somwheres about my problems. I haven't ran it for more then 5mins so I can't say anything about the flow or the efficiency. The first time I plugged it in I had a leak at the neck I believe or maybe I just spilled some water when I was pulling it off. . But anyways I was wondering if you can use a diffrent pump for it since the Rio is ginormous and the little sponge thing is huge too! I still cant find a way of fitting the two together in the tank, its just so unsightly.

BTW, its a model 65.

I use the small tube that comes with it for the pump it's like 1 inch long. I kinda forced wedged the pump and the return bucket and the pump fits barely below the return bucket. It takes about a week to start working right as far as bubbles in the tank. I also had a leak in the top part of the skimmer (I forgot the technical name for that) It leaked for a little while, but I believe the salt kinda sealed it.

That was pretty much it.
