Suitable Species For A 125 Litre 80 Cm Tank

I ordered the same stuff as you for my marines and it came in a funny bag that was made of out some kind of polystyrene, instead of that advertised, How many kilo's do you reckon I will need for my Rio? should I be aiming for about 2 inches?
yea, thats the stuff, i didnt realise they'd been doing that for some time, its bad really imo

I have used 3x4kg bags for my 125litre tank, and i would go for another one, you will always gain a little bit from where the rocks are situated, as these will need to go directly on the bottom of the tank.

okay, I just need to get my hands on some ocean rock, AE have some in at the moment, I've just waiting for richard to email me to see if I can have 12.5Kilos instead of 25.

I wouldnt go with ocean rock for multies, they dont really need it, other tangs will utilise each hole in the rock, but multies wont be intrested, their home is their shell. A darker rock imo will be better, otherwise you wont even see the multies, they arnt the most colourful creatures.

If its upstairs, i'd consider:

these unipac rocks, and some are on the page before, were used by George Farmer for his PFK multies biotope, they look crackin, although, maybe a little expensive.

Wrestling halfbeaks can also be kept with multies apparently, ocupying the top of the tank, may be something to think about.

tbh, even though i stress about the weight of my 125litre upstairs i dont think its ever going to come through the floor, when you think about it, its not actually that much weight.

I don't know whether to sell my Rio and get my Rekord 60 back out, I would have so much more space in my bed room, and with me moving onto my GCSE main exams in the next few months, fishkeeping will take a back seat.

as someone who has done GCSE's, and is now at A level, i can tell you, gcse's are nothing mate, their are a doddle compared to a level, ok you need to do work, but imo not enough to make you cut down on tanks at this stage.

I tell you what i'd do, if you already have your rekord 60 that is, use that for multies, and then you will want more tangs eventually, then use the rio for some tangs..

I would, but the mother, she sees my tank as some monstrosity which is going to affect her life in every way possible, she is so against this hobby.

ah, tell me about it, my Dad is he same, but, secretly he loves the fish, i know this coz i sometimes catch him staring at the tanks :hyper:

Thanks all, I've been giving this some serious thought, and I will be building up my equipment over the next few months.

I've seen Neolamprologus caudopunctatus which I know Kiriyama keeps, is it possible to keep a few of these and a few multies? maybe 6 of each?

Hi Truck, not to sure if it would be a good idea to house the Caudopunctatus with the Mutifasciatus, I rehomed the Caudopunctatus today. the tank looks more relaxed already, it was using about 75% tank space and giving everything a hard time, think AdAndrews , ashemely , Sporen have the right idea by keeping a shellie tank, or doresy having a larger tank with larger tangs, the caudo would have been better suited to the second, have 1 juli dickfeldi in with the multis and they totally tolerate each other, since the caudo has been moved it is out and about more and the mutis are all over the place, even the BN plec has been seen on the front of the tank which never happened before, hope this helps a bit, looking forward to seeing it when it's set up , know it's gonna look good, good luck :good:
