I'm a sucker for cichlids, but I know I have very limited choices in such a small tank, but any cool stocking suggestions you have I will hear out. I was breeding lots of fish for a while, and with my empty tank I want to try something new :)

What are the dimensions of the tank, is your water hard or soft and from how far away will you mostly be viewing the tank?

1.Convict cichlid pair OR one Convict
2. Jewel Cichlid pair OR one Jewel
3. Kribensis Pair
4. Ram Pair (Bolivian or German) OR one male, three-four female
5. Apisto Pair
6. Maybe a Firemouth pair/one. But it all depends in the layout for exploration.

Thank you! The tank is 30 x 12 x 12 my water is pretty neutral, more on the harder side. I'll be viewing it from a bit of a distance.

How about a trio of one of the apistogrammas? Or Bolivian rams or checkerboard cichlids?

One of those, with a nice shoal of something small as dithers, and it could be a very eye catching little set up :)

I'd advise against the firemouths. They really need about a 40 gallon for a pair.

How about a small colony of shelldwellers? You might have to harden the water a little bit, but hardening is a lot easier than softening.
