Suggest Me Some Fish Please?

Hi guys can anyone suggest me some fish that are compatible with:

- 2x Firemouth cichlid
- 3x Platy
- 1x Pleco
- 4x Zebra Danio

I was thinking corydoras as they love sand?
Also could I get some sort of shrimps or would the FM's eat them?
I have sand substrate

Also suggest me some "easy plants"

If all those fish are in a 67 litre already, you need to urgently rehome fish, not add some more!

• The Zebra Danios need a 4-foot tank, depsite their size, as they are hyperactive little fish that love current surfing in a temperate tank. They also need more like 8 to reduce conspecific aggression, but not until they are in a longer tank.
• Firemouth Cichlids grow far too big and are far too aggressive for your 67l, more at home in a 200l setup.
• What "pleco" species are we talking about here? A common that can grow to 60cm long, a Bristle Nose that will grow to 15cm, or something else?

If all those fish are in a 67 litre already, you need to urgently rehome fish, not add some more!

+1, rehome those fish. Especially the firemouth cichlids they can reach 6 inches+ and need at least a 30 gallon.

+1, rehome those fish. Especially the firemouth cichlids they can reach 6 inches+ and need at least a 30 gallon.

4ft for zebra danios is abit excessive, i agree on the firemouths though, i know zebras are active but you dont really need a 4ft for them.

Zebra/Leopard/Pearl Danios are some of the most mistreated fish in the hobby, often suggested by fish stores as hardy first fish, depsite the buyer having tanks that are often not long enough and also kept at tropical temperatures all year round (when they should be kept at <20C for most of the year). These fish can swim against a strong upper water current (10x tank volume turnover) in a 4-foot tank in less than two seconds and keeping them in in anything shorter is downright cruel in my opinion.

No it isn't. This is what people were trying to explain to you in your other thread about stocking. It's not just the size of the fish that you need to take into account, it's whether it needs friends, what temperature it needs, what kind of current it needs, and what activity level it needs. Discus and plecos for example are not comparable to danios and some tetras like the blues and silvertips I have in terms of activity level. You need to think about the bigger picture of the fishes welfare. Ideally a zebra danio would have a very long thin tank (like 12 foot long) which they could zip up and down in great groups and display their natural behaviour. Cooping them up in a 2 foot tank is unfair.

Back to the OP, the firemouths are totally unsuitable for your tank. The pleco, if it indeed a butterfly pleco, has quite specialised needs: high current, cool water, lots of algae to graze on, and lots of friends. While you're right in that it doesnt get big, like other hillstream type loaches they do have specific needs. The danios have been discussed. That leaves the platties: if you don't want babies then make sure you have only males. If you have both then be aware that you'll quickly become overrun with babies, and this is a very fast track to an overstocked tank!

If you got rid of the other fish, than you could have a small group of corydoras, and a few amano shrimp, plus something like a group of dwarf or honey gouramis (bearing in mind the ratio of 1 male to several females).

Edited to add: good beginner plants are anubias, java fern, mosses and crypts. All of which are happy in low light and using fish waste as their fertilisers. You may also get away with some species of hygrophila.

I have to agree with the above Lucy, take it on board and action it when you can, the sooner the better. You should really pop on here for stocking advice before talking to the local fish shops, while some people are very good, there are some who are the exact opposite.
