Can i put my heater right under water?
Or should i have the top just out of the water?

Most heaters are fully submersible. It should say so in the instructions...

Silly me got a new one and put the instructions in the bin.

You'll be alright - all mine are fully submersed and I have never had any problems.

Oh man, be careful putting your heater under water if you're not sure. It could :hyper: ELECTRICUTE :hyper: all your fish as well as your self. Some heaters are not submersible. Mine is glass and is not submersible. Hope you read this.

Hi MartinB :)

Heaters are one of those things you are better off not taking any chances with.

If it's a hang on the back type heater it will have a device on the top to clamp it on to the rim. There will probably be a screw to tighten it down with.

A submersible will look more like a sealed tube with a wire sticking out of it.

If you are in doubt, take it back to the lfs and compare it to the ones for sale. :D

Oops
Perhaps I should have described my heaters - sorry if I've upset anyone...

What make of heater is it? (Seeing as you live in the UK will be easier to tell you if it submersible or not from the make).

:*)

That one is fully submersible. I have 2 Ecotherms (they are the cheapest :D )
