In anticipation of my tank being cycled, I am putting together a stocking list for my bowfront. New fish to be added will all be of South American origin. My substrate is sand, with a few plants, bogwood and various rock caves.

Currently I have:

2x Flying Fox (3" each)
2x Miscellaneous Tetra (1.5" each)
1x Golden Algae Eater (3")

My immediate plan is to add:

12x Rummynose Tetra
8x Cory (whatever the lfs has in stock at the time)

Later on:

3x Festivum
2x Bolivian Ram
1x BN or Clown Pleco

Does this list seem a little light? Is there something else I should consider to increase the short term numbers given that I will have a filter that has been cycled to 5ppm ammonia?

Any help would be appreciated.

I am with you on the cories. They can really make a tank come alive if you have a large enough group of them. The 12 rummy nose tetras makes sense to me too. I don't think you will find a fish that schools any better than they do. The smaller plecos are nice if you like them. They will not do much to clean algae but they can be nice fish to have in the tank. Don't forget that many of them need some wood in their diet so they will be seen on your bog wood rasping at it. I am afraid the festivums and rams are outside my personal experience. The total stocking does look a bit light but that means good fish health without too much work on your part. It is a balance that I always try to strike between too many fish for the tank and too few to look like I have any fish.

I have a large piece of Malaysian bogwood in right now and will be transferring two pieces of mopani from the small tank. The Golden likes it too.

Was also thinking of Hatchetfish to give me some upper level interest.

why not up the Miscellaneous Tetras....? im sure they will do better as a group in looks and health
