Hello,

Because I will be going into my second year of university soon and will be getting my own place, I will be able to acquire and design a tank without the restrictions of parental or fraternal approval. My plan is to have a 20-30 gallon long tank, which should be reasonably simple to stock and manage on my own without bothering the landlord too much. I have a bunch of leftover filter media and substrate from home, so I can cut costs that way. I've also set myself a budget and I plan to buy much of the hardware second hand, which shall allow me to splurge a little on fish and plants.
In my 36 community tank I currently have a pair of bolivian rams, one of which is currently being treated for HITH. My plan is to move that pair and make a planted south american biotope tank. My plan for stocking is:
2x rams
12x various small-medium tetras of two different species
6x Cory gang?
2x amanos and snails and otos? (I love me a clean up crew)
If I acquire a 30 gallon I might be tempted to sneak in some whiptails, but those are interchangeable.

Please let me know of opinions, as I will be planning this for a while.

I'm not the most seasoned fishkeeper, but I know that if you want two species of tetras you should have more than just twelve.

12 tetras of one type is fine. I think the stocking is nice(maybe a bit over with 2 tetra types depends on type) also be aware of breeding rams+ cories. As they don’t get personal space and territories.
