Stocking Ideas

Corydoras Pygmaeus is the so called "mid-water" dwarf cory. Habrosus and hastatus are more similar to full size corys in their bottom dwelling habits. Any of these three I'd recommend, but not with puffers. I also think Endler's livebearers are a good idea.

Figure 8's are probably not a very good idea...
1. they are brackish
2. they get a bit too big for a 7.5G aquarium
Just my 2 cents!

Actually, my other suggestion would be for him to consider a 1.05ish brackish tank. You'd need to replace those plants with something more salt tolerant, and possibly replace the sand with argonite, but then you could have:

Bumblebee Goby
Fiddler Crab (1 or 2 provided you lowered the water enough for them to crawl onto that wood bit.
Amano Shrimp
Nerite Snails
Malaysian Trumpet Snails
Endler's Livebearer (should work fine with 1.05...I'd only put in males with the remainder of the tank though.

personally, and backed up with this forum, bumblebee gobies are freshwater, ive kept them in freshwater for years and had no effects.amano shrimps are not brackish, again ive kept these algea eating shrimps in my freshwater and lives for a good amount of time.Malaysian Trumpet Snails are freshwater, not sure if they can survive in brackish, as salt is bad for most snails, but i wouldnt try it.the same with nerite snails?and with the endlers, i wouldnt bother, they are freshwater and why put them in brackish.i havent kept crabs so cant comment.
again, backed up with reliable sources, i think figure 8's are freshwater. they do orginate from Freshwaters of Southeast Asia. they grow to app. 2.5 inches (6cm) and changing my mind from eariler, 1 would be best. they can live together but need the room. im not saying they cant live in pairs in a 7.5 g, provide lots of cover and hiding places, but looking at my 10 gallon that i have 2 in its smaller than i first thought.1 wont get too big for a 7.5 gallon i think.try looking on google for extra help and info to make your mind up. i started out with just 1 puffer a while back and fell in love with them ever since. but its up to you, just giving my opinion

Thanks to everyone for the replies!
I've decided to go for a couple of Dwarf Puffers. I had some before and had to take them back to the lfs, I've missed the little things!
I'm going to get some Pygmy Cories but for one of my other tanks instead.
Thanks again!

Stang1 how many tanks do you have set up now.

We have the Pleco tank, a community tank, marine tank, 4 fighter tanks and the little one in the photo.
Also got another 48G tank that is empty but I'm going to start aquascaping this weekend!

 Stang it will be a full time job soon.
I'm stripping mine down, only have two now.

It already is
We are running out of room but I'm sure we'll end up squeezing a couple more in somewhere eventually! :S

good luck with your dwarf puffers, and the pygmy cories for another tank. im sure it will look great when finished. can you please post some pics when all finished?
