Just had a call from my deal ol mum, her budgie has passed away  Dispite offering to go and get her another one, she has decided that she wants a fish tank (again) and looks like she is going to pinch my spare rio 125l

She wants a sucky fish  I have a little bristle she can have, could I get away with 3 keyholes in a 125 and something else?. She wants something colourfull and interactive.

keyholes arent interactive at all, and neither are they colourfull. More than likely you want a cichlid perse, but have you concidered some of the gouramis? Smaller, colourfull and can be interactive.

Only cichlid i can think of currently would be a pair of firemouths perhaps? Since adding my Oscar all my fish are handfeeding. Including my juvi firemouths.

Orperhaps a small group of dwarfs of some sort. BGR's are pretty :)

I picked keyholes because I have 3 she could have and work on that.

3 keyholes would fit okay I think, shame you don't have apistos as they would be ideal by the sounds of things with the nice colour variation between male and female...could have quite a few in a 125L too

Maybe 3 keyholes and a BN and then she can a nice sized school of cardinals/serpae tetra etc when the tank has matured nicely to give some nice colour?

Has she got the same water as you? Just wondering if those keyholes would breed or not

Thats if they dont breed before she has them as one is getting rather plump

German Blue Rams.
Golden Rams.
Electric Blue Rams.

Very colourful and from what I know of at the pet store I work at, all very friendly.

And you can stock some tetras in there and most tetras are known for their colours :)

Cardinal Tetra
Rummynose Tetra
Lemon Tetra

are some I can think of :)
