Stocking For 400L Tank

A well cared for and appropriately housed Oscar should reach well over 8", if it doesn't reach 10"+ then something is wrong.

I definitely feel that a well fed Oscar would not eat a full grown senegal especially if the senegal was bought at near adult size and the oscar small. Of course there will be individual fish that would give it a go but in general terms more often than not it should work. Make sure there are hiding places such as pipes for the senegal to retreat to though.

Only trouble is I won't be getting the bigger tank for a month or so, so the O should be about 5" then and I won't be able to get a birchir in my 190L.
I am planning to get a smaller tank to put all my other fish, even the GT if needed, until we move. Then I will sell my 190L and have the 400L for when we move.

I would then wait, as none of the fish you are trying to get are too hard to find, except if you decided on the pimelodus.

I'm now on a fish ban again until I move house in the summer :(

I've got my oscar in with a mix of bichirs and all is good:) i suppose theres always the odd time things like that happens with fish as theyre not always predictable.

Unpredictable is definately the word.
I once had a flying fox who thought it could actually fly.
And when clean it's tank it jumped from the tank and about 10' across the room before hitting the floor.

But if it was predictable I thinking the challenge of keeping fish wouldn't be there and we'd all spend time doing other things,
like interacting with people instead of fish. How strange!! Lol
