Stocking A 125 L

Heres a list of what i currently have which will be going into my new 125 l that i will be setting up next week latest (transfering media over too )

11 Copeland's Tetra (just need to feed them up abit first ther tiny)
4 Female betta's (was 5 but ones rather maleish)
2 Swordtails (1 male 1 female)
2 German Blue Rams (1 male 1 female)
4 Cory Agassizi
3 Cory Trilli

am thinking of getting another 1-2 female swords maybe another 2 female betta but otherwise am open to anymore suggestions

If it were my tank:

Remove the female betta.
Add about 3 Swordtails OR remove all and add rarer livebearers (adult endlers?)
Get yourself a Bulldog plec, quite small and goes through algae like mad.

Add a top dwelling fish? a Butterfly fish would be nice, but the Rams may nip at its fins.

Their are hundreds of options, but definatley add a plec to the tank, will help with algae removal.

i don't tend to have problems with algae as i plant my tanks quite heavily so no left over nutrients and such, plus i dont mind the odd bit of wiping the tank now and then

The bettas are staying though, i need to have them

Aaaah thats both of my ideas out of the window then

Why not look at 1 or 2 centerpeice fish, something totally different, headstanders? there are smaller species which would be fine in your tank. I'd say add a pair of Apistogramma but with the Rams i don't think they'd be too happy together.

my penguin tetra stay at the top of the tank, and a big group of them looks great. i have a small headstander and hes great, real fun fish to watch, very different to the norm. hatchets stay at the top.

i have a tank toughly the same size (130l). heres a list of my stock, though some fish are loners or not in big enough groups as i was rehoming fish instead of buying them new.

4 red eye tetra
6 cory
small sailfin plec
small rusty plec
small black angel
5 cherry barb
small headstander
small cuckoo syno

i have been thinking of adding one or 2 more centrepiece fish, so im keeping an eye on this thread.

What about some Leaping Barb for the Top region and some Red Phantom Tetra for the middle

Leaping barbs are critically endangered according to teh IUCN list, so I would only buy them from a renowned breeder. What about a neon rainbowfish for the middle? And epiplatys or clownfish for the top?

What temp are you keeping the tank at right now?
How are the Bettas and Swordtails behaving with tankmates? This could ultimately decide feasible options, as Clown Killis for example will need a peaceful tank.

i actually have a group of Beckford in my betta tank i am moving over but for some reason forgot them

the bettas are being very good so far had them about 2 months now and theres no problems as with the swords, the male ram is boss of the current tank dispite being alot smaller than the rest

wil be going to the LFS euther Thursday or Friday for another 2 Female swords so will see what they have

You'll already know how great they are then?!! Such a shame they are often overlooked at the lfs as boring brown fish...
