Still Problem With 'redbull'

As the title says, still got the tail rot as posted a few weeks ago.

Treated with API Melafix for a week, then water change, left for a week, water change, now dosing for another week (2nd day)

All stats are spot on (as always) apart from nitrates (At 40, from the tap)

Feeding well and is always alert. No signs of stress or other ailments

Latest photo (seems worse)

Any comments for this Betta novice?

I don't see any red or black edges on his fins, I'd say your in the clear. It looks like there mat even be some clear regrowth. He may benifit form having aquarium salt added to his tank (1 tsp per gallon). Are you sure its fin rot? He may be a tail biter.

Dorsey, i would take out the corys and turn the filter off completey, lower the water to half way and do 70% water changes daily and carry on with the melafix for 5 days after each water change, feed him frozen or live food 3 x a day, he will be just fine with the filter off as long as the water changes are being done daily, you will notice a vast increase of growth within 10 days time, keep him like this until he is vertually recovered, this is how i would heal him but if he is a tail biter its a bit more difficult. there is no known way of stopping tail biting but i would just add some more things to his tank that he can explore and hopefully this will cause a distraction from the habit. good luck

Will add salt. 7 galls = 7 teaspoons yes?

Not sure about removing the cory.....why when they do not interfere with him at all?

Would like to know what turning the filter off will do as I have already designed it to cause very minimal current.

so i could have a fish that grows no bigger than 6 cm in my 70 litre tank

I wouldn't cut off the filter either honestly. If you've rigged it up to have minimal current, and the betta can easily move to a different location if the current is still too strong, then I don't see a problem with leaving it on.
As for the aquarium salt. Don't add it if the cories are staying in the tank since they don't tolerate salt very well.

It is a bit suspicious that his tail hasn't healed. He could possibly be biting it.

I'd do as modaz suggested and try putting in more stuff into the tank. More plants caves whatever.

one of my cts looks just like that , he is a habitual tail biter, i just keep the water clean and let him do whatever he is gonna do, he has been at it for the better part iof a year,ever sience i got him, i doubt he will just stop.

Yes, i am reluctant to turn off the perfectly cycled trickle filter! The flow is so slight (by design) that flake very slowly sinks absalutely whole all the way to the bottom directly below from the point of entry.

I realise that the addition of salt would necessitate the removal of the cory. I don't want to remove them really as that would mean putting them in my main tank.....never to be caught again!

The plants have grown somewhat since my sig. photo and I have added a coconut cave with xmas moss on it. Also a log with moss. Maybe i should add a swing and roundabout (lol)

Maybe I'll stick with the Melafix and extra frozen for this week and see what happens

Good news update...

Been feeding frozen bloodworm and white mozzy lavae twice a day and boy, what a difference!

Tail will take a bit of time to repair but I can tell he is very much back to his old self.

The Melafix did it's job in stopping the fin rot but the poor diet was hindering recovery.

He just doesn't take betta pellets but will take the occasional catfish pellet. Flake doesn't interest him either.

I guess not all fish will eventually eat anything, he was starving himself. He was trying to survive on the weekly bloodworm I gave him

He is a happy bunny now on his twice daily frozen, a treat now will have to be something alive
