im not sure if this topic belongs here, (dwarf chilids) anyways, ....

ive been trying to pick a dwarf chilid that would go into my tank, but i keep running into problems, especially SIZE problems. its really hard getting a dwarf chilid when you have a lurking 18 inch black ghost knife fish in there....
tank size: 90 gal
tankmates:
1 black ghost knife fish
1 peacock eel
i albino bristlenose pleco
6 buenos aires tetras (going to move to my brothers aquarium)
4 rosey barbs (going to move to my brothers aquarium)
4 corys (going to move to my brothers aquarium)
1 honey gourami (going to move to my other aquarium)

here are some chilids i was thinking about....(problem is the size issues)
checkerboard chilid
flag chilid
banded chilid (omg so cute)

Why are you going for a dwarf? I can easily see any of those you listed as a snack for an eel or BGK, especially the Checkerboards. Not sure which dwarf you mean by the banded cichlid but I would stay away from dwarfs and just got for larger South Americans like a Severum - a group of Geophagus sp. Tapajo could work in a 90g with an eel and bgk. Quite a lot of options really.

ohh... well ok.

telling from what i read, would electric blue chichlids be a good idea?

Theres a few differnt fish that fall under that name, would you be able to find a picture or something which might help show which type your on about.

If your asking about a EBJD don't get one in less in are planing on getting a UV sterilizer... they need good water and food.. they like discus...

Can i ask why you would need a uv sterilizer? ive never heard that one before.

it help them not get sick as easily.

Take your pick really eels and BGKs are quite compatable with most South Americans and some Centrals if your after cichlids. Stuff like Blue Acaras, Severums, Geophagus, Satanoperca etc qutie a lot really - what do you like?

You said Banded Cichlid, I hope you know they definately aren't dwarf! They can be any size from 8-12". But they'd still be fine in your tank.
Severum, (Thoricthys)Ellioti, Firemouth, Blue Acara, Geophagus, Keyhole, Festive, Angelfish, Convict, (Cryptoheros)Cutteri. You could almost pick anything really. One thing I doubt would be OK is an Oscar though, but I could be wrong (never kept one myself).

hmm...well thats good. im thinking about really nice chilids that would add alot of color to the aquarium, hopefully blue or red or yellow, green, ect. (im guessing most chilids are like this, lol) i like chilids with multiple colors and arent, like those big fat-headed ugly ones (sorry to the people who luv those fish) im more of the cute fish type. i think i like blue acaras.

Not colourful - but if cute's what you're looking for, Cupid Cichlid (Biotodoma Cupido). They have cute little eyes .

Oh, what's cute about an eel?

What about a Rainbow cichlid you wont get much more colourful than that and they would fit in well.

Duh, why didn't I say that... my mind blanks when I find questions that are fun to answer. These are a great choice, +1 for Rainbow Cichlids.
