The females are considerably smaller than the males. I would go for either yellow convicts OR HRP's as they can cross breed. I would initially go with an Ellioti and a pair of yellow convicts or HRP's and see how you go.

Can i ask why you would need a uv sterilizer? ive never heard that one before.

They don't need one, As far as i'm aware UV sterilisers are a algae control device that you attatch to your external filter pipe work, you get good Ebjds or bad quality Ebjds, the good quality ones like i had and sold to a friend are as hardy as a normal Jack Dempsey...they just grow slow.

The only other cichlids i know of that are called 'Electric Blue' are Electric Blue Rams, which would not be suitable with BGK and Eels and the malawi Electric Blue hap, which would work, but wouldnt be ideal (i have done it before).
Well all EBJD can get sick... and a malawi Electric Blue hap is a African cichlid can not go with BGK...

Looks like you know best....

uh hows this?

1 ellioti
2 yellow convicts
1 blue acara

Ive never had a RTBS, but have had a rainbow/ruby shark and he was fine with them... Trial and error time i guess.

the ellioti looks beautiful! so do the honduran red points. now THOSE are what im looking for!

omg im so exited! here is my wishlist:
ellioti
honduran red points
blue acaras
yellow convicts

it would be wonderful if i had a giant 100 gallon aquarium with each of all the fish i love! say, can these 3 chilids work together? (probably not!) :good:

HRP and Yellow Convicts are on my list too  (Got 1 of each of the others :hey:)

Quotes from everywhere about Elliotis say: 'They are more peaceful and slightly smaller than their relative the firemouth cichlid' - NOT what i've found.. mine is the most evil thing in my tank (although great to look at) he's also grown over the size of the 'average firemouth'..

My Blue Acara - Lovely, Peaceful, Colourful :good:.

HRPs and Yellow Convicts - Like Cutteri, nice colour, peaceful.

All good choices for your tank though, if you're OK with agression.

EDIT: I have to check whether I'm on the last page, so I'm not replying to something from a while ago :X.

1 Ellioti, 2 Yellow Convicts and 1 Blue Acara sound fine. If you're anywhere near Cambridgshire PLEASE tell me where you get the Yellow Convicts from - I took a 1hr 30min round trip to get some, turned out there stocklist hadn't been updated for a month and I ended up coming home with 2 Bolivian Rams (which I'm pleased I got, but Yellow Convicts would a have been nicer) (Bolivian Rams were my fall back plan).

zeke is used to aggression, i think its fine. :)

Be aware that with Blue Acaras some are just as nasty as their 'very similar from young' cousins the Green Terror. If you get one I'd advise getting one at a reasonable size so you can be sure. However saying that, a GT would work in your setup.

Not sure why Oscars were ruled out, but one would be fine in there.

Loads of other fish you can choose from Severums, Sajicas, Viejas etc.

A 90g is a good size tank, so not by any means do you need to stick to dwarf species, and I'd strongly advise against it with your eels.

Bichirs would be another good pick.

The UV steriliser thing is carp; EBJD can be weak due to genes, and their problems are added to by poor water, but if you've got a fish with bad genes, then nothing is going to change that. Get a good EBJD, keep good quality water, you'll be fine. The hard part is finding a good quality EBJD!

Ellioti are lovely looking fish, if they are available to you I'd recommend them.

yes but i read about EBJD, and how they are VERY agressive. the petstore people say that bichirs get to big and would eat my black ghost knife fish and eel, and RTBS and RS only get about 6-7 inches, an good snack for a big bichir? but i really want a bichir too.
so in this case maybe i could get a bichir, but then i cant get those cichlids i want...

so from what you said, this COULD work?

1 bgk
1 blue acara
1 bichir (dinosaur bichir?)
1 peacock eel
1 rtbs
1 ellioti

actually this sound nice to me! of course i dont know if these are compatible. ill do a little more research, and can you tell me what is the smallest species of bichir? because i just say a million pictures on big fat bichirs eating fish whole... -_-

Just a quick reply, but yes don't see why not. A senegal or delhezi would work well. IME JD are big softies. In fact my geos are more aggressive than my jack

what is a IME JD? anyways, i was researching and found that senegals get 20 inches long...or was it 20 cm? anyways im thinking about getting a short-body senegal bichir..how does that sound? :good:
