Spiny Eel I.d.

Purchased this guy today. Searched fishbase and Google images, no luck.

Ok, so I've got a mystery on my hands. Any ideas of other websites, besides the two I've listed, that might be a good resource to check.

It looks like a tiretrack eel, but my tiretrack eel doesnt look like that. It could be a half banded spiny eel

I would guess a tire track eel. It is definitely not one of the smaller Asian varieties (their caudal fin is separate from the rest).

In my 30 years in the hobby, plus several years in a lfs, I've never seen a tire track eel with markings anywhere near those of my fish. I contacted fishbase.org, hopefully I'll get a response soon.

After looking through fishbase again, I think I think I may have Macrognathus semiocellatus. If it is, it stays small, about 7.75". Hopefully they'll still get back to me, at some point.
