Fish Crazy
I went to Wal*Mart earlier this week just to browse and found that they had restocked their bettas, so I looked through them. I came upon a boy who looked like his fins had been completely torn to shreds. Upon closer inspection, I discovered that he was, in fact, a crowntail. I wanted to get him immediately, but I resisted, promising that I'd get him if he was still there after I got back from a trip to Safford.
Well, he was. I was utterly shocked and amazed.
He now lives in 2.5 gallons with a heater, perched upon my mother's piano. I told her that I'd bought him for my father, whose birthday was on Thursday, but for some reason, neither he nor she believe me. It's the only way she'd let me keep him on the piano anyhow, and he's a great conversation piece to boot.
And now for the pictures:
Unfortunately, some of his rays are curled up and corkscrewed, so he's not up to full form. Will these straighten out, given time? Also, one of his gill flaps seems to have been nipped at or injured, but I think it'll grow back just fine.
He's been dubbed "Dracula" by some of the family members. I dunno if that'll stick, but I like it.
