Beautiful fish Cheesyfeet. Wish I could have Discus.  Do your Discus breed?

They don't breed sadly (really atm I don't have the facilities to breed and raise fry anyway). It's to do with our hard tap water, I think it's just because it's not their natural conditions. As I have not got a RO unit (yet, might be getting one soon). They will be moving up into the 100 gallon.I hope to order some bits for my 270 tank sump tonight, so hopefully by the end of the holidays all the fish will be in bigger better tanks!

The larger the tank, the less likely you will have success breeding the discus. The larger it is the more spread out they are and the more nervous they become. That tank looks fine for them. Just make favorable water conditions and they should spawn.

Ph is very high around here, around 8.0-8.4 so really you can't get favourable water conditions without an RO unit.I usto have two blue turks in a 36 gal, they frequently laid eggs but none of them hatched, they were about 4' at this time and the tank was slightly planted with sand. It's pretty strange really, you think I would of started on malawis, but instead did the opposite lol.The tank is actually to small for them to be honest, they have been stunted from last year as i had 8-9 tanks running at a time which was to much, and my blue turk was stunted from breeding at a young age!I know this because every 3 days i would change the 36 gals tank water with bought RO water and they were already a good size however they still looked stunted, the tank they were in was a tropiquarium 88 by the way.The tank is something like 4ft x 16 x 12.Never posted this before but check out this fungus. This Discus had this fungus for a day and died, it was literally that quick. :-( Strangely no other fish caught the disease.

Wow, you have beautiful fish! I really love your blood parrots! I don't know if I have ever seen a white and orange one! Can I call it calico? Anyway, they are super awesome. Keep it up!

Thanks , you two.I got him about 2 1/2 -3 years ago now (along with the orange king kong one), I don't think his colour really has a name.So you can call it calico if you want lol

i love your discus!!! man i cant wait till i get a bigger than and get some :D

You only need a standard 55 gallon to house 5 fully grown Discus comfortably :good: It's more the time involved caring for them which makes them hard to look after.

In addition to extra time, you need to know what they need. Big tanks will only make them skittish, notg happy. Keep them in a snug tank if you want them to be brave and friendly.
