Some Bad News

Just been doing a head count on the girls in the tub as there's been some nipping going on and only found 11 Kira is nowhere to be seen

i have been sat looking for the last 15 min i also noticed Mia and Tia look rather male so looks like i am going to have to either get rid of them or split my 2 3gal tanks for now.

On another note Kai has been very down the past few days, not swimming about as much as he usually does, i thought he was dead this morning

Oh no I'm so sorry. Sorry I'm so forgetful how long have you had the two that are now looking male? Have you checked behind the filter for Kira? My girl went missing and for the life of me I couldn't find her until I took the filter out.

I must have had them 6 months Saying that i had Jovi and Prince nearly a year before i know they were male

all the girls are now out of the tubs in seperate containers until there Sorority is up and running in a day or 2, no sign of Kira

oh Siobhan,- I am so, so sorry I know you have an extra soft spot for Kira and Kai. I hope that Kai gets better soon. I thought I'd lost Mickey a couple of weeks ago. He went missing for 2 whole days. He suddenly appeared on the third day when I moved the centre piece in the Fluval Chi. Looks like he'd got stuck underneath it. Is there anything in your tank that Kira could have got stuck under/behind?

I've got a really stroppy female in my tank who I keep thinking may be male. She flares at everyone and chases them away. I'm sure if she were male she would have attacked/killed my male who is still living happily in with all the girls. I've been so vigilant with my counting heads and checking for nips as I've read so many people say that males and females should never be kept together. So far in my tank I've not even had one nipped fin. I know I'm very lucky. My boy is very laid back and takes no notice of the girls. They all sleep in the Java fern and swim happily amongst each other. Maybe he has gender issues and thinks he's a girl?!

I hope that Mia and Tia are happy in their new single abodes, and that all your other girls are well xxx

all that was in there was the heater sponge filter and a load of live plants, nowhere she could be hiding

I wish i knew what was wrong with Kai, he looks fine, a little paler than normal but otherwise healthy, he is still gobbling food down him, i have moved him over to a divided 3 gal so he doesn't have to swim as much to reach the surface

Sure Mia and Tia will be fine, once i actually buy it will go pick 1 up tomorrow for them

Oh yes,- 'she's' the one! I've had my concerns ever since shortly after Mickey was confirmed to be a 'he' rather than a 'she'. Rose hasn't got into any fights with The Master though. The Master has his 'base' in the right hand side of the tank. It is the most densely planted area and where almost all of the girls 'hang out' and sleep. Rose has her/his territory in the left hand half of the tank and tends to sleep in one of the bn's caves. I don't plan on making any changes unless I see any problems. Rose only flares and chases others away. Once they swim off she/he never pursues.


I'm so sorry that there's no chance of Kira being in hiding/trapped. Try to cheer yourself up thinking about all the new girls that Vicki could well have lined up for you. Plus there's Nat's lovely lot of little ones too!

True i just wish there was a body so i was sure, might find it tomorrow when i empty it out.

I thought it would be Rose, but if thers no trouble i'd leave them for now, Jovi and Prince were fine, the only reason i took Prince out was because he killed a 4" cory! or they would probably still be together now

Yes as soon as i get my Sorority up i'm on the look out again, Nat is giving me first dibs on that 1 i liked

i honestly have no idea what it could be, the water is perfect, nothing new to the tank, he is still eating so i'm not giving up on him yet
