Time for a little update. My caecilians are doing well as always and now have some new tankmates, which are my panda garras. IDK how I feel though about having the garras in the show tank, as these are some of my favorite fish. The move from there kinda cramped species only tank to the big tank affected the social order quite a bit. They seem to be doing okay but are still settling in. The caecilians as always couldn't care less about what was going on. My angels again spawned earlier this week in the same tank and for the first time on a removable object. Seems my angel hatching stills are not up to par though cuz I lost all the eggs in about 24 hours. Figures I give them more effort then the boesemani eggs and I get worse results .

I went to an auction a couple weeks back and because of that a lot of my tanks are still torn up from my not so kind plant removal. Got rid of a lot of plants. Got some new plants too, mostly low light stuff. I did get some new rainbows which I am super happy about. Pseudomogil gertrudae, which I have kept before but have had really bad luck with the store bought ones. Some local bred ones showed up with an actual strain name and I ended up getting half a dozen pairs . I have gotten to the point where I had fry from this species before, but that was the closest I'm gotten to actually raising them. They are neat little guys and I am currently working on moving them to their own tank for breeding. I just setup the tank they will eventually be in as my first soil based tank and currently am having some doubts about its stability for fish.

a fab pic of the caecillian as always Mikaila!!

How big are yours now?

I was selling a fish to a guy last week and he got a big shock when the caecilian just appeared like a mole out of the sand!! :good:

Thanks! I was really happy with that picture too. He had just eaten a worm and looks really silly.

As far as size I think the male is about 22" last time I checked. The less cooperative female is bigger at what I would guess it close to 2 feet. Both are fat and lazy.

Excellent pics budd, love the sock puppets, here simonas, have you not sold it yet, cannot beleive no one wants him

no not even an enquiry
Going to add 5 cardinals next week as theres only him left in who may eat them and if he leaves them alone I;m going to keep him :good:

they are such cool fish especially Mikailas ha

I really want yours Simon but not got the tank size at the moment :( If he is still around when I have the new tank I will be in touch :)

Great tank here as well though!

I will be surprised if he eats the tetras, but at the same time it could be possible if he has learned to eat live fish  . I am very trusting with both of mine. The 6 garras I added a week ago costed only a little less then what I bought both the ceacilians for. They would make for a expensive meal and with them being only 2.5" they are certainly eatable size. That goes for most of their tankmates. I fed them last night and amusingly they do eat fish, chopped up talapia in pieces bigger then some of their tankmates. Both of mine won't touch the live fish and usually dead tankmates are left alone as well. I know they won't eat guppies even if you put them in their mouths .

I am hoping mine will get a tank upgrade within a year. They seem fine as they are now, but could do with a bigger tank. But I would probably stock it just as heavily... Since the angels keep spawning I assume things are happy, except when the angels are spawning. You should of saw the female angel attacking the male caecilian he got too close to the eggs. 4" fish sent him fleeing within 10 seconds!

Love the vibrant colours of your Panda Garra, the stripes are much more yellow than on my three who have cream stripes, P. gertrudae look amazing too! Nice action photo of the "Sock Puppet!"

thats cool Neil cheers

Mikaila I was going to ask actually is the one on the film I have juist watched different to the underwater one we have?

Only reason I ask is that the first day I got mine he was very eager to get out and seemed to be fine after slithering about 15ft under my garage door and down the path!!!
