Boiling water does work. Very hot water does not.

They also cannot survive out of water.

Oh right thats good to hear. I do like the trumpets but was worried id be over run even tho i dont over feed. Proper little working snails. I was going to ask whether getting a few Assasins might cull the numbers down a little but if leaving the MTS's doesnt cause harm theres no point really.

Could i add these pretty soon or do i need to wait a while for things to build up?

If there is a fish in the tank, the snails will have food. I would only get one, it will begin reproducing in no time.

Assassin snails are risky. These are illegal in some parts of North America as they can cause havoc to the natural ecosystem if they should get released, and this is easily done.

Oh ive ordered 5 MTS but to share between 3 tanks.

Assassin's are in most LFS in the UK. I have 1 in my 100 litre and he keeps pond snails at a steady count.

Ordered some MTS !!
This weekend I got 2 mystery snails & 2 nerite?? Not sure what that one is called but tiny & starts a an N. Never had snails b4, always placostomus. Snails r amazing, they eat all of the debris. They make a placostomus look like a free loader.

I have 2 golden mystery snails. They seem to go everywhere in my 55 gallon tank and don't seem to rest. I was told this type of snail will lay it's eggs just above the water line so all you need to do is check for them every so often like when doing normal water changes and you shouldn't have an issue.
