I have no idea why my sister bought this fish, last i knew her least favorite animal are fish. But well she bought it. Bad thing is not that she bought it....she got what i would say is 3/4 of a gallon tank with no filter or anything. (I excuse heater becuase we dont really need it until later on) because i know she wont....i now have to save money to give this betta an appropiate home x_x

Oh, God. I hate it when people buy pets they know nothing about and make them miserable by giving them a terrible home.
But hey, at least you have a new fish ;) :p

My sister once won a beautiful blue betta as a prize for something at some event.  It came home in quarter gallon plastic "tank."  I ended up investing a bunch of money on the betta, gave it a 5 gallon tank with a HOB, heater, live plants, etc.

My first ever fish was a betta. I was dying for a fish, so one time my parents were going to be near PetCo I asked them to take me, and blew the $100 I'd earned by selling soap over the summer on him, his tank, some medicine, you get the idea. Unfortunately my dad later had to return for a net, which I'd forgotten...and the tank was one gallon, a round, half-bowl shape wall hanger with red gravel. >_< Ah, the things ignorance does.

Well she has ignored me for years cuz i might have mention like 1000000 times that bettas need at least 5 gallon tank

Maybe she sees everyone else doing it and just doesn't care...Especially if she dislikes fish...

The only thing you really have to get is a container of AT LEAST 2.5 gallons and a heater and the betta will be in a much better situation.  At least if finding or affording a true tank is an issue.  I recommend rubbermaid/steralite containers for this as they are cheap and come in lots of different sizes.  There is a nice one of 20 L (5 gallons) that I have personally used before that I purchased at Walmart.  A filter while not necessary can be found pretty cheaply as well.  I buy the sponge filters off of ebay and run them with a small airpump from Walmart.

I was planning on getting all the thigns necessary, not so much of an issue on space, just need some money, but probably by next week ill have everything for the betta to have a better home

Anyone in the States looking for a good filter for a betta tank, Azoo Fillet Mignon filters are great.  They are quiet, reliable, and have adjustable flow.  On anything but their highest setting, the flow is perfectly calm for a betta.  I've used them in a few betta tanks and a nano tank.

Here's an Amazon link for anyone interested.

I totally forgot i have to cycle the tank. She just put the fish in there. Oh gosh....

He'll probably live, I also didn't cycle my betta's tank...back when I was still a total newb...
