Siamese Fighting Fish

We're all good thanks :) Vicki's spawn is coming along lovely and should be ready for sale next month. Siobhan's are doing well too, but she is keeping all hers as it was only a small spawn. They're both still updating on here when they get the chance.

Hope all's well with you :D

I have kept both female and male bettas in with platys and mollies without any problems at all :) My boys were both very placid and neither of them took any notice of the platys (Hi-fin and very brightly coloured) and mollies (Gold Sailfin and dalmatian)

Thats good to know, Thanks fuzzynicki

Okay, good to know that everything is okay. And yeah I'm well too..... But one of my bettas passed due to stress from moving tanks

Sorry to hear that Fishy.

Really sorry to hear this  I think everyone I know has had massive losses (bettas) over the last half of 2011. Totally gutting

Sorry to hear bout your fish, fishy friend. I'm there with you. You know I had a rough year with bettas...

IME their is less agression from the Betta when it is added last

Thanks. Thats what I'm gonna do then.

If it goes wrong and the betta is a head case I'll move all my fish from the 60L (platties, neons, mollies and otocinclus) to the 90 and the betta can have the 60 to himself. :good:
I went into the shop today to get a backup heater incase any of mine break and a filter to go in the 90 alongside the small one thats in there and I saw the betta again.
They have him in with a load of golden barbs.
I asked the assistant about housing him with platties and mollies and she said the platties will nip his fins which I knew was a possibility.
When I pointed out that barbs are nippy little sods she changed the subject

Thanks again,

-Paul

Your welcome, and I have never heard of platies being nippy towards bettas, they are to docile IMO and, wow she doesnt sound like she knows what she's talking about...... And your back up plan sounds good too :good:

My platys and mollies were already in the tanks before the bettas were added :) I have never had one instance of a platy (or molly) nipping my bettas fins! :D Great that you have a back up option in case you do ever encounter any problems. Once the betta bug takes hold you may want to divide the 90 into sections for several males! ;)
