Shrimp Tank

Ive heard that the best for shrimp breeding is the air line filter. The increase oxygen in the tank increases the survival of baby shrimps as threre is more oxygen for them.

There is an old style air filter in there, with eheim filter media and wool in it.It is what i originally set it up with, then added the Biopower 160 about 4 weeks ago.

I use a simple air powered sponge filter. I started with 4 baby RCS last July and now I have over 200. If you are using a HOB, you can use a pair of old panty hose over the intake. I bought little 4" media bags to keep baby fish out of my filter. Just tie them on the intake.

I like the internal powerfilter, gives good water flow.

The good thing about the Eheim Biopower is that the intake slots are all on the bottom section,so you can wrap a piece of fine mesh around it,I have used tights.Cut off about 5" long.

Have seen 12 Crystal shrimplets in my tank today.

Sure i didnt have that many the other day, there appears to be a mixture of red and Black(bee) shrimplets.

Have about 20 CRS shrimplets and another 15 Females carrying eggs.

2nd shrimp tank will be here next week.
