Show Me Your Tanks!

I can't decide on what new tank to get for my betta, so I'd be grateful for pics of yours for inspiration, especially if you are in the UK (so I can get hold of the same tank.)

I'm after a nano tank, about 20-30 litres I think, I want to get something really nice looking.

I'd be grateful if you could include the name/brand of the tank and what filter you are using too, as my boy struggles with filters so I need a betta-appropriate one.

My old 30L biOrb and Chai.

My 20L Arcadia which now houses my hm Kanda.

Both were good tanks which I can definitely recommend, however the pump on the biOrb is quite noisy!

I like the Aquastart 320 for bettas. At 28L, I found it a nice size for my boy and probably wouldn't want to go much smaller. I fing the small internal filter it came with fine, though there is only one compartment for media. You'd be able to add a couple of smaller tankmates too if you wanted such as endlers. I find the lights pretty decent too - I have easily been able to grow a variety of plants under them, though I have used easycarbo and ferts too. It comes at a fairly nice price too - I think mine was around £40 from p@h. I think I've seen them cheaper online, though I'm not sure if they came with an UGF rather than an internal filter.

I have an aqua start 30? a tetra 30, elite 60 x 2 & Aquael 60 and thats just my males lol the 60l are divided to house 4 males

I'd recommend the Arcadia arcs, I think they're lovely looking tanks. I have two second hand ones, they seem to pop up on ebay quite often.
Love the look of yours FighterFishh, Here's one of mine, (not as nicely scaped!) with my HM betta, Ink. It's a 35 litre and the filter it uses is an aqua one which is good on lowest setting, but in my other arc I use an interpet P-something which I prefer. When angled to the tank sides is fine for the bettas as it's not too strong. Again, second hand off ebay it came with a different tank.

My two 5.5 gallon tanks They are just simple Top Fin 5.5 gallon starter tanks...But I replaced the lighting for a better plant light and replaced the filter with the tetra whisper internal filter made for 3 gallons (because I didn't want the flow to be too strong, and it's not like bettas have a large bioload)...and it works perfectly!

I live in the US but you could probably find this or at least something very much like it...Not the most amazing looking tanks (structure wise), but at the very least the aquascape might be able to help

nessar, I am going to suggest something a bit out of the ordinary. I always keep my bettas in really big tanks these days. I choose a tank that holds a community of peaceful fish like endlers and just add him in as if he was any ordinary fish. They all seem to thrive and survive to a ripe old age of over 5 years that way. My own guess is that the company keeps them active and the exercise of swimming against the strong currents from the filters in a larger tank keeps them healthy. They get to compete with other fish at feeding time too, so they never get slovenly about their habits.

I know my own attitude runs counter to most betta people, but I am a fish keeper, not a betta specialist. My bettas thrive along side the rest of my fish which also thrive.

Oldman, I only have one other tank at the moment, which is a fancy goldfish tank and so only set at 22c, which I think would be a bit chilly for him, would it? They're only 1.5-2 inches so their size probably wouldnt be an issue. But he is also very aggressive, he will tolerate snails just about, with a bit of flaring and the odd peck, but I've tried him with a tiny pitbull pleco and some ghost shrimp in a 30 litre and he wouldnt stop attacking them. I got him from a pet shop that had him in with loads of tetras, his fins were completely shredded, so I imagine that might have darkened his view on tankmates.

At 22C a betta would definitely be at a big disadvantage. I don't think I would try that combination in your place.

A fish and full 15L setup for £50? Not bad at all for a full setup including fish and everything you need. 15L tanks aren't really that small for bettas - many keep bettas in a lot smaller. Personally I wouldn't want to keep one in anything less than 19L-30L or so minimum and I would provide more space if I could.
