Had an oscar before but had to move him on. He was becomming quite aggressive, very aggressive to his severum tank mates.
My favourite has to be the rotkeil. I have some pictures on here somewhere.
Oscars are fun. Wait until he starts wrecking your tank, pulling your filter pipes apart, moving substrate and rock.

The pictus is about 5", that is the smaller of my large plecs, here is a pic next to an 8" fish
