Hey guys! I have a female swordtail who has just recovered from an internal parasite, and she is now pregnant. I want to move her to my 10 gallon to drop her fry, so I don't have to catch all of them, but I'm scared she's too far into the pregnancy to move...? What should I do? This is what she looks like:

Thanks in advance for any suggestions! :good:

she should be fine, have you got a fry net or anything as they seperate the fry from the mother straight from birth and then yopu can move them straight to another tank

Yes, but a lot of my fish eat the babies when they are first born.

Thanks!

If you can move her without too much stress she should do fine in your other tank Fry Forever. Make sure that even in a separate tank there is lots of good cover. Swordtails are big fry eaters compared to many other livebearers so good cover is a must, even in a separate birthing tank.

Thank you. I have a lot of cover: tons of java moss, java fern, and fake plants that provide good coverage.
I'm expecting her to eat some of the babies, but more will survive in that tank.
Thanks again.
