hello everyone im totaly new to this hobby and hope im doing things right. Today i brought a few novelty items to put in the tank(fluval 125), do these items need to be washed or treated b4 they go in the tank? THE other thing im worried about is that i started cycling 8 days ago only to come home from work and my wife had introduced some fish(white clouds)to the tank arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh. They do seem very happy in the tank but wot do ido now? Any help will be greatly appreaciated. By the its a fantasic site.

If you have been cycling using the add ammonia and wait approach, you have enough ammonia in the water to cause your fish quite a bit of harm and need to do a big water change right away. If you mean that you have left the empty tank to just sit for a week, you are at the beginning of a fish-in cycle and the water changes will come starting in the next day or two. In the short term, fish in new water, with no ammonia added to actually start a cycle, will be fine for the first day or two.
I rinse off any ornaments that go into my tank but don't get carried away and scrub off all of the painted finish.
