What should you look for when looking for a male one. And is it better to have a female and a male. Or two females in a community tank.

Thanks

very hard to see any detail in those pics im afraid. basic differences are the male is much larger and less colourful. the males caudal fin ( tail ) is more "spade" shaped whereas the females is more rounded . havent got a pic of my male but here is 1 of my female if that helps

a male and female is ideal but be prepared for fry. i shouldnt think 2 females will cause any issues but id avoid 2 males as 1 will dominate and bully the other i had 2 males before i knew how to spot the difference and 1 almost killed the other it was sheer hatred

Thanks for the reply,

Would two females and one male cause a problem is it best to just to keep them in pairs?

Thanks

looks to me you have femails,i cant upload photos or i would show my 2 femails with the mail and 2 sets of fry,all getting along happy.good luck with yours,,kenny

My two girls would bully each other in turn, they were really awful to each other so I ended up separating them. male and female will still be a bit bitchy ime but OK. What else do you have in your tank? Kribs can be a bit of a nightmare with eggs/fry and take over a large area of the tank for their own!
To sex:
See the fin on top? If the end of it goes to a point and extends out over the base of the tail, you have a boy. If it is shorter, and the pointy end is rounded off, you have a girl. Also, see the two little fins by the anus? Kinda like hands? :P In boys, these tend to be blue in colour. With girls they have a tendency to be the pinky purply colour of their bellies, cos the exntend these little fins out in an attempt to make their belly look bigger and so more attractive to a male! :)

Yip id also agree they are all females :)

Kribs are a doddle to sex, females have really pink/purple bellies and short dorsal fins, males have long extended dorsal fins and are a longer fish in general.
