Sexing Bala Shark.

How can you sex bala sharks?? And can anyone tell me what their mating ritual is??

To make a long story short my wifes sharks have been rubbing against each other and she wants to know if thats part of a mating ritual for them?? Also any other details to look for is appreciated.

mine do that too.
They have been doing it for quite some time now.
I dont think they get big enough to breed in a tank.

Bala sharks very rarely breed in captivity. You would need a huge tank, and some pretty specific environmental parameters.

The activity you are seeing is one of dominance I think. My two large ones do it periodicaly, and it's good fun to watch. The seem to twist around oneanother, but lately my bigger clown loach has taken to joining in!!

As far as sexing goes, it is thought that the females have deeper bodies than the males, but as they come in all shapes and sizes it's very difficult.

I woulnd't say it's impossible, but it is extrememly unlikely you sharks will breed.
