Setting Up Tank With Rocks/eggcrate

Do I put a bit of sand down, then the crate, rocks, then the rest of the sand ?

Or do I put the crate down first before any sand ? Just wondering if it needs a layer first so the crate isn't directly on the glass.

Egg crate first so its has full contact with the base of the tank and isn't creating any pressure points.
